Sedation Dentistry – Los Angeles, CA
Make Your Next Dental Experience a Positive One
Millions of patients struggle with anxiety and fear that keeps them from wanting to schedule dental visits, leaving their oral health to gradually decline or unaddressed issues like tooth loss to continue to impact their quality of life. If you experience this, know that you’re not alone and that our team at Geach Dental can help you feel comfortable and at-ease while you’re in the treatment chair. We offer effective oral conscious sedation to help make your next appointment care-free. Give us a call before your appointment to see if you would be a good candidate for sedation dentistry in Los Angeles.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is an excellent sedation method for patients who experience mild to severe dental anxiety or phobia. Before your appointment, we’ll prescribe a single pill for you to take about an hour before your visit. Typically, the medication offered is in the diazepam family, like Valium®. When you arrive at our office, the effects will have already kicked-in, helping you feel calm and collected for the entirety of your visit.
It's important that you have a trusted friend or family member prepared to drop you off and pick you up from your appointment since you won’t be able to drive. You’ll also need to clear your schedule for the day so you can rest until the side-effects wear off.
Are You a Good Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?
Before we’re able to determine whether you’re a good candidate for oral conscious sedation in Los Angeles, Dr. Geach and our team will go over your medical and dental history with you. Oral conscious sedation is an excellent option for patients who experience mild to severe dental phobia or anxiety, but there are a few instances in which we may not recommend it, including:
- You have chronic bronchitis or respiratory disease
- You’re taking other medications that may interfere with the sedation
- You’re in the early stages of your pregnancy
- You’re allergic to the medication
In any case, we’ll let you know before your appointment whether oral conscious sedation is right for you. If you aren’t a good candidate, rest-assured that our kind and caring team paired with our comfortable and home-like office may be just what you need to have a more positive dental visit.
